Blank or Dark Display Diagnostic
Systematic check for why the controller display shows nothing, starting from power source and moving toward the display.
Qualified technician handoff: stop before live electrical testing, sealed-system refrigeration work, compressor service, or protected-compartment access unless a qualified technician is handling the work.
- Burning smell detected at any point: Stop immediately. Disconnect power. Do not resume until cause is identified and resolved.
- Repeated breaker tripping: Do not reset breaker again. Escalate to licensed electrician.
- Visible arc or spark: Disconnect power immediately. Escalate to qualified technician.
- Three or more components test inconclusive: Stop and escalate to manufacturer support or senior technician.

- 1
Verify Facility Power
operator-intermediatelowCheck the facility electrical panel for a tripped breaker or blown fuse feeding the machine circuit. Confirm the machine power cord is fully seated in the receptacle.
Stop conditions- burning smell at panel
- scorch marks on receptacle
Expected: Facility power confirmed available at the receptacle.
Evidence to note: meter-reading
- 2
Check Machine Main Power Switch
operator-intermediatelowLocate the main power switch on the machine and confirm it is in the ON position. If uncertain, toggle off, wait several seconds, then toggle on.
Stop conditions- switch feels hot
- arcing visible when toggling
Expected: Switch is in ON position and machine shows signs of power.

- 3
Observe Controller Board LED Indicators
operator-intermediatehighWith power confirmed, look at the controller board through the access panel or door opening. Note any LED status indicators present.
Stop conditions- burning smell from board area
- visible damaged components
Expected: At least one LED on the controller board is lit or flashing, indicating board power.
Evidence to note: photo
- 4
Inspect Display Harness Connection
operator-intermediatehighCarefully check the wiring harness connecting the display or keypad assembly to the controller board. Ensure connectors are fully seated with no bent pins.
Stop conditions- damaged wiring with exposed copper
- hot connector
Expected: Harness connector is firmly attached with no visible damage.

- 5
Restore Facility Power
operator-intermediatelowReset the tripped breaker or replace the blown fuse. If it trips again immediately, stop and call a licensed electrician.
Stop conditions- breaker trips again on reset
- burning smell
Expected: Power restored and holds at the machine receptacle.
Evidence to note: note
- 6
Check Controller Board Power Input
technician-advancedlive-voltageUsing a multimeter, verify that input voltage is reaching the controller board at the main power input terminals. Compare reading to nameplate requirements.
Qualified technician handoff: stop before live electrical testing, sealed-system refrigeration work, compressor service, or protected-compartment access unless a qualified technician is handling the work.
Stop conditions- live voltage present — ensure no contact with conductors
- burning smell
- damaged insulation
Expected: Voltage at controller input matches expected value within tolerance.
Evidence to note: meter-reading
- 7
Display Substitution Test
operator-intermediatehighIf available, connect a known-good display assembly to the controller. This determines whether the display or the controller is the source.
Expected: Known-good display works, confirming original display failure.
