Single Vend Motor Will Not Turn

Isolates whether a single column's failure is caused by a jam, motor, harness, or controller output issue.

  • Multiple motors fail simultaneously: Escalate – likely controller or power supply issue, not individual motors.

  1. 1

    Clear Product Jam Check

    operator-intermediatelow

Unplug machine. Reach into the affected column and verify no product is jammed between shelves or against the dispense mechanism.

    Expected: Column is completely clear.

  2. 2

    Inspect Motor Harness Connector

    operator-intermediatelow

With machine unplugged, locate the motor harness connector for the affected column. Disconnect and inspect pins for corrosion, bent contacts, or heat discoloration.

    Stop conditions
    • Connector melted or pins blackened – indicates overcurrent, investigate controller driver

Expected: Connector pins are clean, straight, and free of discoloration.

    Evidence to note: photo

  3. 3

    Check Motor Winding Continuity

    operator-intermediatelow

With harness disconnected at motor, measure resistance across motor terminals.

    Stop conditions
    • Open circuit (infinite resistance) – motor winding is failed

    Evidence to note: meter-reading

  4. 4

    Check Controller Drive Signal

    operator-intermediatehigh

Reconnect harness. Plug in machine. Command a vend on the affected column. Measure voltage at motor connector while vend is commanded.

    Evidence to note: meter-reading

Location Help

Where to find this

Use this as orientation before touching the machine. It is location help, not a repair instruction.

Low-Voltage Power Supply

Start at the front door payment column; match the display, keypad, coin, bill, or card device to the symptom before opening deeper panels.

  • Converts main AC to regulated low-voltage DC for controller, display, sensors, and vend logic.
  • Transformer or switching power supply module
  • DC output fuse
  • Filter capacitors

Do not open energized or protected electrical areas unless a qualified technician or licensed electrician is handling the work.
