Compressor Will Not Start

Checks the electrical and control path that enables the compressor to run, from temperature sensor through controller command to compressor start circuit

Qualified technician handoff: stop before live electrical testing, sealed-system refrigeration work, compressor service, or protected-compartment access unless a qualified technician is handling the work.

  • Oil leak evidence found: Stop immediately. Tag sealed-system repair required. Do not attempt. Requires EPA-certified technician.
  • Compressor knocking or grinding: Shut off immediately to prevent catastrophic failure and contamination. Tag for compressor replacement.
  • Start device melted or arcing: Disconnect power. Do not re-energize until start device replaced and cause of overcurrent investigated.

    Verify Airflow and Condenser Cleanliness

    Inspect the condenser coil area for dust buildup. Check that nothing is blocking the rear or sides of the machine where ventilation louvers are located. Clean condenser with soft brush or vacuum if accessible.

    Verify Door Seal

    Close the machine door and inspect the full perimeter of the door gasket for gaps, tears, or areas where the seal is not making full contact. A dollar bill inserted between door and frame should have slight resistance when pulled out.
