Power Input Diagnostic

Verifies that line voltage is reaching the machine terminal block and that primary overcurrent protection is intact.

Qualified technician handoff: stop before live electrical testing, sealed-system refrigeration work, compressor service, or protected-compartment access unless a qualified technician is handling the work.

  • Repeated fuse failure without obvious cause: Escalate to advanced technician. Do not re-energize until root cause identified.
  • Burning smell or visible arcing: Unplug immediately. Tag out of service. Do not probe or re-energize.

Checklist

Guided Diagnostic Steps

Work from low-risk checks toward technician-level inspection only when evidence supports it.

  1. 1

Verify line voltage at wall outlet

    technician-advancedlive-voltage

Using a multimeter set to AC voltage appropriate for your region, confirm the wall outlet provides expected voltage. Do not probe inside the machine yet.

Qualified technician handoff: stop before live electrical testing, sealed-system refrigeration work, compressor service, or protected-compartment access unless a qualified technician is handling the work.

    Digital Multimeter
    Stop conditions
    • Outlet shows signs of damage or arcing — do not use outlet

Expected: Multimeter reads within normal range for your outlet type.

    Evidence to note: meter-reading

  2. 2

Check main fuse or circuit breaker on machine

    operator-intermediatehigh

With machine unplugged, locate and visually inspect the main fuse or circuit breaker. If a fuse is present and appears blown, note it but do not replace yet — determine cause first.

    Flashlight or Work Light
    Stop conditions
    • Fuse holder shows heat damage — do not re-energize until replaced

Expected: Fuse element is intact or breaker is in ON position.

    Evidence to note: photo

  3. 3

Verify voltage at machine terminal block

    technician-advancedlive-voltage

With machine plugged in and access panel open, carefully measure line-to-neutral voltage at the terminal block. Use insulated probes and wear appropriate PPE. Keep one hand in pocket when probing live circuits.

Qualified technician handoff: stop before live electrical testing, sealed-system refrigeration work, compressor service, or protected-compartment access unless a qualified technician is handling the work.

    Digital MultimeterInsulated Gloves
    Stop conditions
    • Burning smell detected — unplug immediately and do not proceed
    • Visible arcing — unplug immediately
    • Wet or damp conditions near terminal block — do not probe

Expected: Voltage at terminal block matches wall outlet reading.

    Evidence to note: meter-reading

Location Help

Where to find this

Use this as orientation before touching the machine. It is location help, not a repair instruction.

Power Input

Start outside the machine at the outlet and cord, then identify the power entry area before any protected-compartment inspection.

  • Delivers mains voltage to the machine and provides primary overcurrent protection.
  • Power cord
  • Terminal block
  • Main fuse or circuit breaker

Do not open energized or protected electrical areas unless a qualified technician or licensed electrician is handling the work.
