Payment Accepted — No Product Dispensed

Systematic isolation of whether the fault lies in payment communication, controller output, motor power, mechanical mechanism, or product loading for the Vendo V-12 column-style vendor.

Low RiskOperator5-10 min
Payments5 stepsoperator-intermediate

Qualified technician handoff: stop before live electrical testing, sealed-system refrigeration work, compressor service, or protected-compartment access unless a qualified technician is handling the work.

  • Repeated vend motor failures across multiple columns within a short period: Escalate to supervisor — possible systemic harness or controller issue
  • Burning smell or visible heat damage at any connector: Power down immediately, tag machine out of service, escalate to qualified technician
  • Error code persists after all verifiable components test good: Escalate — may require firmware diagnostics or manufacturer support

Checklist

Guided Diagnostic Steps

Work from low-risk checks toward technician-level inspection only when evidence supports it.

  1. 1

Perform test vend in service mode

    operator-intermediatelow

Enter service mode on the V-12 and command a test vend on the affected column. Observe and listen carefully for motor activity, mechanical movement, or any error codes.

Expected: Motor should run through one complete cycle and product should dispense

    Evidence to note: note

  2. 2

    Inspect motor-to-mechanism coupling

    operator-intermediatelow

With power off and machine in safe state, manually examine the coupling between the vend motor shaft and the dispensing cam or lever. Look for stripped, broken, or disconnected linkage.

    Stop conditions
    • broken metal parts with sharp edges

Expected: Coupling should be intact, firmly attached, and rotate freely without excessive play

    Evidence to note: photo

  3. 3

    Check motor harness voltage

    operator-intermediatehigh

Set multimeter to AC voltage range appropriate for the motor drive voltage. Back-probe the motor harness connector while a second person commands a test vend. Note whether voltage appears and is sustained.

    Stop conditions
    • burning smell
    • visible arc
    • damaged connector

Expected: Drive voltage should appear at the connector when vend is commanded and persist for the duration of the motor cycle

    Evidence to note: meter-reading

  4. 4

    Isolation test the vend motor

    operator-intermediatelow

Disconnect the motor from its harness. Using the multimeter on resistance mode, measure the motor winding resistance. Then manually rotate the motor shaft and feel for smooth rotation without binding.

Expected: Winding resistance should be within expected range and shaft should rotate smoothly

    Evidence to note: note

  5. 5

    Verify controller vend drive signal

    technician-advancedlive-voltage

Probe the controller motor output test point while commanding a vend. This determines whether the controller is issuing the drive command.

Qualified technician handoff: stop before live electrical testing, sealed-system refrigeration work, compressor service, or protected-compartment access unless a qualified technician is handling the work.

    Stop conditions
    • unsure which pin is the drive output — do not guess

Expected: Controller should output a drive signal when vend is commanded

    Evidence to note: meter-reading

Location Help

Where to find this

Use this as orientation before touching the machine. It is location help, not a repair instruction.

Controller

Start at the front door payment column; match the display, keypad, coin, bill, or card device to the symptom before opening deeper panels.

  • Executes vend logic, monitors sensors, drives motors and relays, communicates with payment system
  • main control board
  • memory or firmware chip
  • relay bank

Do not open energized or protected electrical areas unless a qualified technician or licensed electrician is handling the work.
