Refrigeration - Compressor Not Running
This diagnostic is performed when the machine is warm and the refrigeration compressor does not start or run.
Qualified technician handoff: stop before live electrical testing, sealed-system refrigeration work, compressor service, or protected-compartment access unless a qualified technician is handling the work.
- Compressor running continuously without cooling: Suspect sealed-system leak or restriction. Do NOT attempt repair. Escalate to licensed refrigeration technician.
- Hot compressor with burning smell: Immediately remove power. Do not re-energize. Compressor may have internal electrical failure.
- Frost buildup covering entire evaporator as solid ice: Defrost issue or airflow problem. Do not chip ice. Allow natural defrost and investigate airflow and defrost system.
- If the compressor runs continuously without cooling, do not attempt repair; this requires a qualified technician specializing in refrigeration.
