Diagnose Cooling Failure

Diagnostic flow for when the machine is not maintaining proper product temperature.

High VoltageOperator5-10 min
Cooling2 stepsoperator-intermediate

Qualified technician handoff: stop before live electrical testing, sealed-system refrigeration work, compressor service, or protected-compartment access unless a qualified technician is handling the work.

  • Compressor extremely hot or repeatedly clicking: Unplug immediately. Possible compressor failure. Hand off to licensed technician.
  • Sealed-system refrigerant or compressor diagnosis needed: Stop. Requires EPA-licensed refrigeration technician. Do not tap, pierce, or open sealed system.
  • Live-voltage measurement at compressor terminals: Technician-advanced minimum. Use appropriate PPE. Hand off if not qualified.

    Check Door Seal and Closure

    operator-intermediatelow

Close the door on a dollar bill at several points around the perimeter. The bill should have slight resistance when pulled. Check for gaps, torn gaskets, or door misalignment.

Expected: Door closes fully with consistent gasket contact around the entire perimeter.

    Inspect Condenser Coil Cleanliness

    operator-intermediatelow

Locate the condenser coil area, typically at the bottom rear or lower section of the machine. Visually check for dust, lint, or debris coating the fins. Shine a flashlight through the coil — you should see light passing through.

Qualified technician handoff: stop before live electrical testing, sealed-system refrigeration work, compressor service, or protected-compartment access unless a qualified technician is handling the work.

    • Fins are extremely fragile — do not bend or crush during cleaning

Expected: Condenser fins are clean with visible air gaps between fins.
